CITY LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK ON PROJECTS, SAYS PARTRIDGE

As we spring into May, please enjoy the many beautiful trails and parks in Waterdown and Flamborough.

I am pleased to share that the Waterdown Transportation Master Plan study was recently endorsed by council. The report will be on public record for a minimum of 30 calendar days in accordance with the Municipal Class EA process.

The review period will end May 31.

Thank you to the more than 300 people who participated in community meetings to provide feedback to staff. To provide feedback, visit bit.ly/3yc2iE2.

The City of Hamilton is seeking public and stakeholder input to update policies and zoning regulations relating to farm labour residences. Farm labour residences are housing accommodation for full-time farm labour to support a farm operation that requires additional on-site employment.

Until June, staff will be engaging with the agricultural community and relevant stakeholders to obtain feedback on the preliminary recommendations outlined in the discussion paper. Your input will ensure farm labour residence options are flexible to accommodate farm operation needs, address any public concerns to inform recommended policy updates to the Rural Hamilton Official Plan and changes to zoning bylaw 05-200.

I am delighted to invite the community to save the date and come celebrate our new Carlisle Library branch grand opening on July 9 at 3 p.m. This event was made possible by the generous donation of the TD Canada Trust bank branch building and property in Carlisle to the Hamilton Public Library.

Many Carlisle residents have worked with me over the past 10 years to bring a new library to Carlisle. The building is in the centre of Carlisle, and will include outdoor game tables, a bike fix-it station and more to serve the community as a highly visible hub.

Meanwhile, on June 4, 7, 11 and 14, the City of Hamilton is giving away free private trees to Hamilton residences while supplies last, one per address. Plant a tree on your property to improve air quality, fight climate change and increase property value.

Homeowners are responsible for planting, watering and maintaining their private tree.
