ANNUAL DOORS OPEN EVENT ON TAP MAY 28-29 WEEKEND

TORONTO NEWSROOM newsroom@toronto.com

This year's annual Doors Open Toronto, on tap the weekend of May 28 and 29, is all about renewal.

The free weekend-long celebration of architecture and public space will feature more than 100 sites for exploration, a talk series, walking tours and even a virtual component.

Toronto City Hall and Nathan Phillips Square will be abuzz with activity from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, featuring exhibits, live music, family-friendly activities and rare access to the

mayor's office, council chambers and the hall of memory. Staff and volunteers will be on-hand to answer all Doors Open Toronto-related questions.

This year's "renewal" theme, according to a city news release, "touches on the world's awakening to deeply rooted social, cultural and environmental inequity, injustice and imbalance. Doors Open Toronto 2022 participating sites and programs are guided by their interpretation of renewal."

Mayor John Tory, in a news release, said "this truly unique behind-thescenes experience offers a chance to discover and explore our buildings and vibrant neighbourhoods. I encourage everyone to, once again, experience Toronto's hidden gems and to take part in all of the in-person activities we are ready to welcome back as a city."

Details are now available at toronto.ca/doorsopen.
