When the OPP knocked on a Tottenham man's door to tell him that his Jeep had been located, he looked at the officer very confused, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt recounted.

That's because the man thought his vehicle was safe and sound in his driveway.

Peeking his head out the door to point it out, the penny dropped.

His car had indeed been stolen.

It was at that moment that the Tottenham man heard the details of his vehicle's journey over the past few hours.

An OPP officer from the Highway Safety Division in Aurora stopped a Jeep on Hwy. 9, near Hwy. 400 for speeding late night on March 10.

With no driver's licence and no connection to the vehicle, the driver was soon arrested. Police also located several reprogrammed key fobs, which are often used in the theft of vehicles.

Police charged a 17-year-old from Montreal with speeding, theft of a vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, driving without a license and possession of break-in instruments.
