DUNDAS TERRY FOX RUN RETURN SURPASSES 2019 EVENT

Organizers of the first in-person Dundas Terry Fox Run in three years say funds raised passed its goal, and even surpassed totals from the last in-person run in 2019, and were still growing the next day.

Nicole Wilson said Sept. 19 this year's event had so far raised $29,169.65 from inperson and online donations and she anticipated totals passing $30,000 this year.

"We smashed our fundraising goal of $25,000," Wilson said. "For reference, in 2019 we raised just over $19,000 at our last in-person run."

She said the total turnout was a bit smaller than 2019 but "the energy was higher than ever."

Wilson said the significant online support was humbling to the more than 50 volunteers who helped organize and facilitate the event.

"For the past two years, we may not have been together in person, but we always felt that we were together in spirit," Wilson said. "And (Sunday) we were back, seeing

old friends, meeting new ones, and committed to fundraising for cancer research so that our loved ones, friends and ourselves can live in a world without cancer."

She said it's still not too late to donate, and more details can be found at run.terryfox.ca/3417.
