FIRE CLAIMS LIFE OF 1 PERSON, 2 DOGS

Lanark County OPP continue to investigate a fatal house fire that took place May 12 in Almonte.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at 9:15 p.m. that evening, where the Mary Street home was fully engulfed in flames. One person died in the fire and was located in the residence, along with two dogs. As of press time May 13, the victim had not yet been identified.
Mississippi Mills firefighters, along with mutual aid from Carleton Place Fire Department, battled the fire.
The Lanark County OPP's crime unit, forensic identification services, the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office and the coroner continue to investigate the incident.
