YETHON, Andrew Edward

Andy passed away at Billings Court Manor on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the age of 86. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather: married to Joy for 58 years; father to Matthew and his wife Catherine McGowan, and their children Liam, Colm, and Megan; and father to Jeremy and his wife Ursula. Andy was born in Melville, Saskatchewan, and grew up a dear brother to Olga Besler and her husband Albert, the late Lily Billings and her husband Russell, the late Ronald Yethon, the late Evelyn (Eve) Weimer, Henry (Hank) Mann and his wife Phyllis, and stepbrother to Herbert Mann and his wife Trudy. Andy's passing may leave a void in our lives, but a long lifetime of memories will give us solace. He was a kind and gentle man, with a warm and caring nature. If it's true that children are the best judge of character, then there can be no doubt Andy was a good man: he was universally adored by his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He gave of his time generously, and made enduring friendships through his work, church, and community. Andy spent his entire career as a senior research chemist with Canadian Industries Limited (C - I - L, later a subsidiary of Imperial Chemical), and balanced his dedication to work with a passion for spending time outdoors. He enjoyed cycling and gardening, and frequently volunteered at his church doing property maintenance or fundraising. His love of the outdoors and youth was also expressed through his volunteering for over 10 years as a leader in Scouts Canada. Andy lived a life of service that touched many others and always gave his best to the world. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. For those who wish, donations in Andy's honour to the Alzheimer's Foundation and Heart & Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
