BROCK LOOKING TO HIRE SECOND NEW TREASURER WITHIN A YEAR

TOWNSHIP HAD HIRED LISA CHEN AS DIRECTOR OF FINANCE IN SPRING 2022

Brock is looking to hire a new treasurer less than a year after it secured its last top township number-cruncher.

The township announced on March 15 that it was seeking a new director of finance and treasurer to look after the municipality's money. Interested applicants have until 4 p.m. on April 7 to submit a resume.

The hunt for a new senior member of township staff comes on the heels of the hiring of Lisa Chen last spring, who took over the reigns of the finance department in May 2022. She had spent the previous 20 years with Markham and Richmond Hill.

The township did not say why it needed to hire a new treasurer.

Chen replaced former Brock treasurer Laura Barta, who departed to work in Scugog as its director of finance in February 2021.

In the job posting, Brock said it is prepared to offer the ideal candidate a competitive annual salary between $123,009 and $144,965, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The township has also set a 2023 goal of hiring a new chief administrative officer after announcing in August 2022 that it had extended the contract of Ingrid Svelnis, the township's interim chief administrative officer, through to the end of 2023.

The former Uxbridge Township chief administrative officer was tapped to serve as Brock's top bureaucrat on an interim basis in March 2021 after former chief administrative officer Dean Hustwick parted ways with the municipality that same month.

Svelnis had previously retired before coming to Brock after holding the chief administrative officer position in Uxbridge from 2008 to 2019. She had worked with that township since 1985.
