MEET GREEN CANDIDATE LISA FRANCIS
WE ASKED LOCAL CANDIDATES A SERIES OF QUESTIONS TO GET THEM INTRODUCED TO VOTERS
Lisa Francis is the Green MPP candidate for Northumberland-Peterborough South in the 2022 provincial election.
Francis' is looking for residents' votes come June 2 when the community elects their next MPP - and Ontario its next premier.
To introduce residents to their local candidates, we asked Francis and others to answer some quick questions.
HERE'S A QUICK RUNDOWN:
Francis, 40, of Brighton, is the local Green Party of Ontario candidate, and a teaching and learning co-ordinator with Queen's University.
PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE:
"This is my first time running for a political position; however, I did have to campaign to be the internal administrative representative for the board of governors seat I won during my time at Loyalist College where I served a full three-year term."
HOW WOULD YOU GRADE THE PROVINCE'S COVID-19 RESPONSE AND WHY?
"C-: The Ford government failed our public-school system during the pandemic. Teachers did not get the virtual teacher training they were promised and had to adapt to the virtual learning environment on their own time and their own dime.
"Promises of HEPA air filters for classrooms were not fulfilled. Ford burnt out our teachers through two years of mismanaging the pandemic and refused to take measures to flatten the sixth wave after recklessly
