Living in an eco-friendly straw-bale home with hand-medown furniture from their parents, growing their own food, and raising chickens and goats, are just a few ways Linda and Tony Armstrong live a self-sustainable existence on their land in Hamilton Township.
Around a decade ago, the couple abandoned city life and travelled the world working on organic farms to learn about permaculture, which takes organic and ecological farming a step further. The Armstrongs received their permaculture design certification in Costa Rica.
"It was a really cool way to travel and get to know community well," Linda Armstrong said
