ELECTIONS ONTARIO IS HIRING: HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Want to participate in the democratic process while making a couple extra loonies? Elections Ontario is hiring several positions for the upcoming provincial elections.

In a post on their website, Elections Ontario says they're looking to fill several paid positions. Some will require using technology like ePoll books and vote tabulators, others just pen and paper.

Anyone who works in longterm-care facilities or hospital settings during the election must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

One role Elections Ontario is trying to fill is for information assistants (IAs). According to their job descriptions book, IAs greet, direct and help electors at voting locations.

They're also tasked with making sure there are no partisan campaign materials at voting locations (as are most EO employees), assisting anyone with disabilities and assisting poll officials in shutting down. The hourly rate is set at $15/hour, with up to 13 hours available.

Elections Ontario says they're also looking for tabulator deputy returning officers (TDROs). TDROs feed ballots into the vote tabulator and prints candidate results on EO software. TDROs will be expected to troubleshoot the technology during the election, meaning they should probably be comfortable with technology. The position pays $18 per hour.

Applicants for both positions must be at least 16 and have a social insurance number.
