Jonathan Chang already owns a Firehouse Subs in Bradford, having opened the store in 2020.

Now, he's launched

Newmarket's first franchise. Chang, who was an entrepreneur in the web, print and film industries before venturing into the world of subs, said all aspects of Firehouse Subs resonate with him, especially its commitment to supporting first responders.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada has donated more than $2 million to Ontario emergency responders.

"Another location means more opportunities to support our local heroes and public safety organizations, which is a huge part of the Firehouse Subs mission that I'm honoured to carry on," Chang said.

His store shows off a bit of Newmarket's history, through a mural commissioned and hand-painted by the company's chief mural officer, Joe Puskas, who does a painting unique to every community.

Newmarket's features the town's original fire hall, built in 1866, alongside the new Central York Fire Services fire station.

In addition, the Newmarket store boasts the company's new community design restaurant concept, featuring enhancements to provide a better dining experience for guests and a new back-of-the-house layout with a more efficient flow for crew members.

Firehouse Subs is located at 47 Harry Walker Pkwy. S.
