WE NEED TO PROHIBIT CRUISE SHIP WASTEWATER DUMPING

Sea otters, orca whales and anyone else who would rather not be swimming around in a toxic stew of "fecal coliform, ammonia, heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons" are not happy with cruise ships returning to Bristish Columbia's coast.

According to Stand.earth, "Had the 2020 cruise season gone ahead, cruise ships travelling up and down the coast of British Columbia would have dumped 31 billion litres of wastewater in Canadian waters."

Their report states, while Alaska, Washington and California have antidumping regulations, Canada has nothing comparable.

Canadians need to demand that our federal government enact regulations to prohibit wastewater dumping that at least match U.S. regulations.

Otherwise, we're actually encouraging cruise ships to dump in Canadian waters.
