About 200 students from 20 schools across the county will be participating in this year's Simcoe Science and Technology Fair on March 31 and April 1. The fair will be held at Barrie's Bear Creek Secondary School.

Simcoe Science and Technology Fairs in 2021 and 2022 were conducted virtually, while the 2020 edition was cancelled outright, all due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This countywide competition will see more than 100 science projects highlighted over two days, with about 1,000 attendees expected to visit the high school. The event will be open to the public on Saturday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with an awards ceremony scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Teams with the best projects could win prizes or even scholarships sponsored by a number of businesses, institutions, and universities. Seven students will be selected to

move on to the Canadawide Science Fair, the nation's largest annual youth, science, technology, engineering, and math event.

Additionally, volunteer judges are being sought for the fair. No expertise or experience is required; all judges should expect to be well-prepared and supported throughout. Refreshments will also be provided.

Visit simcoesciencefair.ca to apply to be a judge or for more information about the fair itself.
