BOY LOOKING FOR VOTES, DONATIONS FOR ACCESSIBLE BIKE

GREAT BIKE GIVEAWAY COULD MEAN 10-YEAR-OLD TYSON MAY JOIN HIS FAMILY ON THE BIKE TRAILS AGAIN, AFTER OUTGROWING THE TRAILER ONCE USED

Tyson Corner could really benefit from feeling the wind on his face.

That's what his adopted mother, Jessica, tells Simcoe.com, which is why she's entered him into the Great Bike Giveaway. The online contest and fundraiser could give the young lad a chance to get a wheelchair tandem bike, allowing him to join the rest of the family on bike rides around Barrie's waterfront.

Tyson was born with a rare heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, and suffered both a heart attack and stroke in infancy. He was also born with several upper body abnormalities, meaning his arms may not look like yours or mine.

Cognitively, he's about two years old, but with the body of a 10-year-old who has outgrown the bike trailer the family used to use on outings. Corner says she misses taking her son and the rest of the family on rides.

"It will just be nice for us to be able to do that again. I didn't really get a chance to do it last year because he had been too big for the trailer. It was fun to go out, we're right by the water," she told Simcoe.com while also tending to her six children, including Tyson.

"With six kids, you want some free activities that you can do," she added with

a chuckle.

It was noted that, while taking a photo of Tyson and

his mother for this article, the entire family gathered around to cheer him on, coaxing a smile for the camera.

The Corner family is hoping they can get back out on the trails through the Great Bike Giveaway, where participants have three ways to obtain a wheelchair tandem bike. Participants can raise funds through the contest website, get the most amount of votes online, or win through random draw.

Corner says getting her son back out for bike rides could mean a world of difference for him, after she was told by a separate service she dealt with that children like Tyson love having the wind on their faces. "So that's always stuck with me because it's true. They just love that," she said.

Donations and votes can be made through the website greatbikegiveaway.com/tyson until March 29.
