BARRIE-INNISFIL INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE JAKE TUCKER

CANDIDATE NAME: Jake Tucker

RIDING: Barrie-Innisfil PARTY: Independent

AGE: 35

OCCUPATION: Landscaper, cleaner, president and cofounder of Innisfil Pride RESIDENCE: Lefroy

PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: I began my interest in politics over 20 years ago as a member of the Tottenham Youth Centre and have remained passionate about making a difference within my community. I continued on with student council until deciding to run in the 2018 provincial election for Barrie-Innisfil. Following our last election came the start of Innisfil Pride, which has come to flourish. No matter the outcome of the election, I will continue to work hard within my community to encourage

change for the better.

HOW WOULD YOU GRADE THE PROVINCE'S COVID-19 RESPONSE AND WHY?

Grade C. The provincial response to COVID-19 was disappointing to say the least. Lockdowns caused more harm than good; domestic violence, mental health calls and suicides all rose significantly from years prior to COVID-19 and the restrictions that were mandated.

The devastation that rocked Roberta Place and other long-term-care homes/senior living and those families affected could have had a different outcome if the province followed through with the promise toward revamping the health-care system and senior living. Now our entire health-care system is suffering, lacking medical professionals, and leaving Ontarians in the dark.

IF ELECTED, I PLEDGE TO: If elected, I pledge to continue to work directly with and for the members of the Barrie-Innisfil community, local council, emergency services and other organizations to ensure our community is being properly represented.
