BSOM ONTARIO PARTY CANDIDATE GERRY AUGER
THE PROVINCIAL ELECTION IS SLATED FOR JUNE 2
CANDIDATE NAME: Gérald (Gerry) Auger
RIDING: Barrie—Springwater—Oro-Medonte
PARTY: Ontario Party of Canada
AGE: 56 (May 29) OCCUPATION: Living benefits product specialist RESIDES IN: Barrie
PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: This is my first venture into the political world. I have always paid attention to politics and was a member of the Conservative Party federally until parting ways during Erin O'Toole's tenure. And I held a membership in the
Ontario PC Party until the spring of 2021.
HOW WOULD YOU GRADE THE PROVINCE'S COVID-19 RESPONSE AND WHY? Grade F. Our federal and provincial governments turned to coercion and ignored the science at every turn. Democratic republics lead without coercion, they inspire the population to do the right thing, without threat. Governments are to study a matter, inform the public of the facts, and advise a course of action ... not mandate.
If elected, I pledge to: The concept to be discussed after consulting with experts and benefit recipients is to put forward a private member's bill reducing and capping MPP salaries and remunerations from all sources to $100,000. The savings will be reallocated to create a reintegration program for ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) recipients who want to develop skills and competencies through entrepreneurship to complement their benefit income, with the goal to have them replace their benefit income over a two- to fiveyear program.
