PATCHELL REPRESENTS NDP IN BARRIE-SPRINGWATER-ORO-MEDONTE

THE RETIRED ELMVALE RESIDENT HOPES TO BRING AWARENESS TO PUBLIC SERVICES AND SOCIAL SAFETY NET

CANDIDATE NAME: Beverley Patchell

RIDING: Barrie—Springwater—Oro-Medonte (BSOM)

PARTY: Ontario's NDP AGE: 64

OCCUPATION: Retired RESIDENCE: Elmvale

PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: I've been a grassroots political activist for more than 30 years, participating in public campaigns to bring about political and/ or social change. I've held positions within the Canadian Union of Public Employees, supporting workers' rights and challenging government policies that threatened the erosion of public services and the social safety net.

HOW WOULD YOU GRADE THE PROVINCE'S COVID-19 RESPONSE AND WHY?

Rating: CAs the sixth COVID-19 wave continues in Ontario, confusion and mistrust are common among the public. The perception of political favouritism, coupled with flip-flops when one directive is quickly contradicted by the next, has left many indignant with all COVID-19 communication, be it good or bad. Also, we can't forget the continued failure to keep seniors in long-term care safe and the Ford government's choice not to invest to keep schools safe.

IF ELECTED, I PLEDGE TO ... :

My pledge to the residents of BSOM is to be a voice for people who know what it means to be impacted by government decisions. It is time to fix the things that matter most to people in Ontario.
