There is now a group in Arnprior for riders of bikes of all shapes and sizes to socialize and ride the many scenic trails in the region.

On a dirt bike, fat-tire mountain bike or anything in between, the newly formed Arnprior Mud Pedallers welcomes all riding enthusiasts to join their Facebook group and meet up weekly to follow a particular route. Down the road, the group will venture

beyond the immediate area to Almonte, Calabogie and Beachburg.

"It's for all ages and abilities,"

organizer Brad Recker said before the first ride, begun at Ken Sissons Parking Lot on May 9. "It's just a social ride, nothing competitive."

Recker has lived in Arnprior for almost 20 years but spent much of his social life in the city. That changed with working from home during the pandemic lockdowns. He joined the curling club, a running group and enjoys finding ways to meet more neighbours.

"This is another way to get to meet people from the town. It's for anyone who wants to get out for a pleasant ride, a quick ride, and maybe go for a beer afterward."

The Day 1 ride saw the group travel a loop to Braeside.
