ATHLETES EXCEL AT 2022 SENIOR GAMES

5-PIN TEAM BOWLERS WIN BIG

District 22 Hamilton/ Wentworth athletes posted outstanding performances at the recently completed Ontario and Canada 55plus Senior Games.

A variety of activities were held during the month of May. Many of the events were timed events. Others were prediction events. There was something for all levels of physical capabilities.

Medal winners from District 22 Hamilton/ Wentworth had the opportunity to compete in the Ontario 55+ Games in Peterborough, Aug. 6 to 9. Winners at those games earn the right to compete in the Canada 55-Plus Games in Trois-Rivières, Que. in two years.

This year the Canada 55Plus Games were held in Kamloops, B.C., Aug. 22 to 27.

This year's Ontario 55Plus Games winners include: • Brian Cumming (silver in golf);

• William Bleses (bronze in 5-pin bowling);

• Bob Filey (gold in 5 pin team bowling);

• Gregory Smith (gold in 5-pin team bowling);

• Roger Bleses (gold in 5pin team bowling);

• Sylvia Mackrory (gold in 5-pin team bowling); and

• Dale Smith (gold in 5pin team bowling).

This year's Canada 55Plus games winners are:

• John Addison (bronze in swimming);

• Joan Millard (1 gold and 1 bronze in swimming);

• Susan Canfor (2 silver in swimming);

• Aubrey Smith (3 gold and 1 silver in swimming);

• Marilyn Hyatt (silver in golf);

• Susan Wakeley (bronze in 10-km cycling); and

• Larry Madill (silver in 10-km cycling).
