CALLANDER COUNCILLOR SEEKING MAYOR'S POSITION

A Callander councillor is throwing his hat in the ring for mayor.

Daryl Vaillancourt officially launched his candidacy for mayor on May 2.

“Callander is a beautiful community with incredible potential and I’m looking forward to working collaboratively with local businesses, community leaders, council, staff, volunteers, other levels of government to focus on community investment and growth in order to enhance the quality of life for all local residents and businesses,“said Vaillancourt in a release declaring his candidacy.

He currently is a member of the municipality’s budget committee and property standards committee. He and his wife Michele have two adult daughters. He is a licensed pilot and local business owner. He is also a former North Bay city councillor and has been a representative on several area boards of nonprofit organizations. He is the former chair of the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.
