A complex road project is going to impact the thousands of residents who live in the Treetops community on the east side of Alliston.

The Sideroad 10 reconstruction and urbanization project was slated to begin this week.

The project, from south of Highway 89 to just south of Treetops Boulevard, is expected to take until Sept. 2. However, if necessary, town staff has the authority to extend the project four additional weeks.

Work will take place above and below the ground, and will result in the creation of an urbanized two-lane road with turning lanes at Peacock Trail and Treetops Boulevard, including curbs, a three-metre-wide asphalt multi-use trail on the east side of the road, and street lights.

Crews will also be installing storm sewers

and other underground infrastructure.

During the project, access to the Treetops subdivision will be maintained through two access points. Kennedy Road from the 14th Line will serve as one of the access roads for the entire project. During the first phase of the works, Treetops Boulevard will serve as the secondary access point, and Peacock Trail will be used during the second half.
