The best way to shake off the February blahs is to get out and get active, which is what originally motivated Port Colborne

to launch SportFest. Unfortunately, the event was scuttled for the past few years due to the pandemic, but will be swinging back into the city this winter.

"SportsFest provides the community with an opportunity to get out, PORTicipate and enjoy all that Port Colborne has to offer, and we are thrilled to have it back after a few years off," said Mayor Bill Steele. "We are grateful for the support of community groups and local businesses offering sports tournaments, free family fun and activities for music lovers and foodies, too."

More than just a weekend of winter fun, the event also serves as a fundraiser for a number of local charities and initiatives, including the Port Colborne Fire & Emergency Services Fire Prevention Program, Light of Day Foundation and Special Olympics Ontario.

The action kicks off Feb. 10 with the opening round of the signature event, the Mayor's Cup Hockey Tournament. The fun continues the following day with the popular Zuvic Memorial Sno-Pitch Tournament, free swimming at the YMCA and the annual induction ceremony for the Port Colborne Sports Wall of Fame. Closing out the festival on Sunday is a free family skate at the YMCA and the Polar Plunge at the H.H. Knoll Park boat launch.
