SOMER SLOBODIAN

Get ready to enjoy some sweet treats paired with a hot or cold beverage at the Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum.

The 38th annual Arabella's Pie Social and History Fair returns to the museum grounds later this month.

Happening May 29, the event serves as the opening weekend of sorts for Arabella's Tea Room and offers visitors a chance to try some sweets, mingle and learn about Port Colborne's history.

"The social is a fun and interactive way to kick off Arabella's Tea Room season and encourages the community to visit the museum to learn and experience about our city's history," said Michelle Mason, museum curator. "It's also a great excuse to treat yourself and your family to some delicious pie and tea after a long two years."

The event, set to take place from noon to 4 p.m., will include blacksmith and heritage demonstrations, a plant sale, live piano performances by Frank Krahn, as well as activities for children. Visitors can also explore the museum's heritage buildings.

Food and drinks are served in Arabella's Tea Room by reservation only. Those interested can call 905-834-7604 or email museum@portcolborne.ca to make a reservation.

Arabella's Tea Room opens for the summer season on June 1. Hours of operation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. daily until Sept. 30. Reservations are required ahead of time.
