Friday the 13th turned out to be rather lucky for mom and daughter Carrie and Judith Verkade.

The pair won the most recent West Lincoln Memorial

Hospital Foundation Investing in Life 50/50 draw, and picked up their prize of $10,795. Judith bought tickets for herself and her mom Carrie as a Mother's Day present, and both said they were thrilled to take home the top prize.

The draw was held on

Friday, May 13.

For the foundation, the draw was another successful fundraiser that will help the organization support health care in Grimsby and the West Niagara region. Work continues on the next WLMH building, which the Investing in Life

campaign is supporting. To date the community has raised $7 million for the new hospital.

"Thank you to our community for supporting this lottery and ultimately benefiting the healthcare in the West Niagara community," said Pamela Ellens,

executive director for the WLMH Foundation.

The Verkades weren't the only winners from the draw either. Teddy's in Grimsby sponsored nine early bird prizes, which saw ticket holders take home anywhere between $250 and $1,500. Ellens said

the foundation was grateful for the support of Teddy's.
