After a two-year hiatus the Township of West Lincoln is bringing back its annual Canada Celebration, bigger and better than ever.

"I think I speak for everyone when I say I am so excited to gather together as a community to commemorate our nation's birthday," said West Lincoln Mayor Dave Bylsma.

The festival on Friday, July 1 at the Leisureplex Township Park in Smithville will feature food, artist and market vendors, a juggling zone, pony rides, balloon entertainment, and interactive animal presentations throughout the day.

A cornhole tournament will also be taking place for those 18 and older.

The main stage at the event will feature a performance by singer and songwriter Eric Ethridge, whose debut single "If You Met Me First" reached No. 1 on Canada's iTunes chart and was streamed more than three million times in the first six weeks after it was released.

"After having to cancel this well-loved event for two years in a row, it is only fitting that the triumphant return of our Canada Day festival is going to be the most spectacular celebration West Lincoln has ever seen," said Bylsma.

The main stage will also feature a magic show by Magic Mel and a fire show by Hoop You.

"I am so proud of our community for persevering through these past couple of years. I hope everyone will take this opportunity to unite in merriment and celebrate Canada Day together," added chief administrative officer Bev Hendry.

The day of celebrations will be capped off with an fireworks display at night by Garden City Display Fireworks.

Parking on site will be limited so guests are encouraged to take a free shuttle provided with pickup

and drop-off points at the West Lincoln Community Centre, the Village Square Plaza, and the Greek Hall.

"Special thanks goes out to our incredible township staff for their tremendous work putting together this event," added Hendry.
