Summertime is a great time to be outdoors, and what could be better than homemade ice cream on those warm days?

Lifelong Grimsby resident Simon Pellegrino will tell you "any time is ice cream time." Pellegrino declares his love of ice cream is what got him involved in his homemade ice cream that's available at the West Lincoln and Grimsby farmers markets. Pellegrino's business is Simon Says Ice Cream, and he makes all his ice cream from scratch, right down to the vanilla extract.

The unique small batches of ice cream flavours have proved to be a bit of a challenge for this entrepreneur, who is finding that others are truly enjoying ice cream almost as much as he does. He has come out with some classic, nostalgic flavours and others that offer an opportunity to ask questions, such as: "what is a backwards Oreo ice cream?" We won't reveal the answer; you'll have to ask him.

Aside from ice cream, Pellegrino makes several classic flavours of sorbet and a dairy free ice cream alternative. He offers samples of all his flavours and his ice cream is sold in pint containers, but get there early — many sell out quickly!

Niagara Samosa Factory has been attending

farmers markets for about nine years. Mel says momma Bea Gonfa started making samosas for potluck lunches at her church. The business soon took off, which resulted in a storefront in old downtown Fort Erie and big demand at the farmers markets they attend. Mel's smiling face and friendly personality will greet you in West Lincoln on Friday evenings. There are three regular flavours of samosa available: lentil (spicy and not), potato, and spinach. A real treat is the apple samosas, and, in a few weeks, she will also feature peach samosas.

The West Lincoln Farmers' Market runs every Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the West Lincoln Community Centre and Arena. However, the market will move to the Leisureplex as part of the community's Canada Day Celebration on Friday, July 1.
