LINCOLN HOSTING FAMILY MOVIE NIGHTS IN ITS PARKS
DIFFERENT PARKS WILL BE HOSTING SCREENINGS THROUGHOUT SUMMER
The community will have a chance to enjoy movies under the stars in Lincoln throughout the summer with each screening taking place at a different park in town.
Things kick off June 24 with a screening of "Sing" at Hilary Bald Park. The animated movie follows a group of animals participating in a singing competition hosted by a down-onhis-luck theatre owner who is hoping to prevent his venue from entering foreclosure.
On July 8, movie night moves to Rotary Park with a showing of "Wonder
Park." The animated film features of the voices of Matthew Broderick, Jennifer Garner, Mila Kunis and more. It follows a young girl who encounters a real version of her magical amusement park run by animals.
Maybe if they screen it, you will come. The Kevin Costner baseball classic, "Field of Dreams," will be the movie shown at Jordan Lions Park on Aug. 12. Costner plays a farmer who builds a baseball field in his cornfield, which attracts the ghosts of baseball legends.
Closing out the series is the Robin Williams and Ben Stiller classic, "Night at the Museum," appropriately screened outside the Lincoln Museum and Cultural Centre on Sept. 4. Stiller plays a new security guard who, courtesy of a curse that's been unleashed, sees history come to life as he works the night shift at the Natural History Museum.
All screenings start at dusk. Admission is free. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Refreshments are available for purchase at the events, with proceeds going to charity.
Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a donation of non-perishable food items that will go to local charity.
